Jeanette Taylor named FSU Vice President for Faculty Development & Advancement

Florida State University has named Jeanette Taylor as its new Vice President for Faculty Development & Advancement. She will oversee faculty hiring, promotion and professional growth at FSU.
Taylor, who will begin her new role June 2, is returning to FSU from the University of Georgia, where she serves as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and is a professor of psychology. She will succeed Janet Kistner, who is stepping down after holding the position since 2016.
Taylor previously spent more than 20 years at FSU in various leadership roles, including as an associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences and chair of the Department of Psychology.
Provost Jim Clark praised Taylor’s leadership experience and dedication to faculty success.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Taylor back to FSU,” said Provost Jim Clark. “She is an accomplished academic leader who understands our university and its faculty. Her experience and vision will help us continue to attract and support outstanding faculty.”
As Vice President for Faculty Development & Advancement, Taylor will lead efforts to recruit and retain top faculty, oversee tenure and promotion policies, support faculty professional development and nominate faculty for prestigious awards. She will work closely with deans, department chairs and university leadership.
She will be stepping into a role that plays a critical part in shaping FSU’s academic future. As she transitions back to the university, Taylor says she is eager to reconnect with colleagues and support faculty across all disciplines.
“I am eager to help advance the academic excellence of FSU by supporting the recruitment and development of its faculty and cultivating leaders,” Taylor said.
Taylor earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Minnesota. Her research focuses on the genetics of mental health disorders, and she has published extensively in the field.
