Florida State University kicks off the 2025 spring semester with a series of events where new and returning students can connect with others and explore campus. “Welcome FSU” serves as the official welcome to FSU and takes place Sunday, Jan. 5, through Friday, Jan. 17, at various campus locations.

“The events and programs offered during ‘Welcome FSU’ help introduce students to the various resources and activities they have access to through FSU,” said Amy Hecht, vice president for Student Affairs. “Social, cultural, academic, wellness—there are so many ways to engage.”

Find Your Classroom Tours

1-4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5

HCB Classroom Building (Atrium)

Take a brief guided walking tour around campus to help you find your way to class. Tours start at 1 p.m. and leave every 30 minutes (last tour leaves at 3:30 p.m.).

First Day Photos

9 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 6

Landis Green

Take a photo at one of the #FSUFirstDayPhoto signs and share them with family and friends. #WelcomeFSU #FSUFirstDayPhoto. (Also available 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7)

Ask A Nole

9 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 6

Various Campus Locations
Look for the garnet flags! Current students and staff will be available across campus to answer questions, give directions and help students have a successful first day of classes.  

Wellness: Inside and Out

7-10 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7

Askew Student Life Center

Join University Housing, the ASLC and key campus partners to learn how to boost various dimensions of your wellness before watching Disney’s Inside Out 2. Enjoy free snacks!

Part-Time Job Fair

11 a.m.–3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9

Tully Gymnasium

Join the Career Center and find the perfect part-time job at the Part Time Job Fair.

Spring Involvement Fair

6-9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9

Tully Gymnasium

Meet with student organization leaders and members at a tabling fair and learn ways to get involved with student organizations at FSU!

Winter Wonderland

7-10 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10

Student Union (lower level)

Stop by the Winter Wonderland event at the lower level of the Union.

2 Buck Bowling

2-10 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 12

Student Union Bowling and Billiards Center

The FSU Student Union will offer $2 bowling ($2/shoe rental, $2/game) and billiards ($2/hr).

Study Supplies @ Dirac

2:30-4:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13

Dirac Science Library
Grab free study supplies like highlighters and sticky notes to start your semester off strong (Also offered on Jan. 15.).  

ACE Your Transition Workshop

1-2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14

William Johnston Building, Room G060

Students transitioning into college (either from high school or from previous institutions) can join this workshop by the Academic Center for Excellence to learn time management, study strategies and campus resources for academic achievement.

MLK Golden Torch Lecture with Ziwe Fumudoh

5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14

Ruby Diamond Auditorium
Don’t miss this special Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Week lecture with American comedian and writer Ziwe Fumudoh. For more information about MLK Week, visit mlk.fsu.edu.

Sport Clubs Recruitment Night

5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14

Honor Societies and Academic Resource Fair

3-6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 16

Great Hall at Honors, Scholars, and Fellows House and William Johnston Building Atrium

Chat with various university-wide and discipline-specific honor societies and learn more about membership. Also, swing by the WJB Atrium to learn about FSU’s academic success resources and how to ACE your classes this semester.

Seminole Innovators’ Lunch Hour

Noon-1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17

Innovation Hub

Join the FSU Innovation Hub team and meet featured innovator James Hudson, ICT major, minoring in STEM Entrepreneurship & Innovation; Innovators X Instructor; 3D Design Specialist and Fabrication Lab Intern.

Service & Leadership Organization Fair

3-6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17

Connect with RSOs, campus departments and community-based service agencies to explore new ways to get more engaged in service and leadership.
