Food Recovery Network

FSU’s Food Recovery Network is a student-led organization working to reduce and eliminate food waste on campus and redirect it toward those facing food insecurity in Tallahassee. Through involvement with the FRN, students will be supporting the food insecure individuals of FSU and Tallahassee. Interested students can look here for more information and for ways to get involved.

Food for Thought Pantry

In reducing food waste, students can also help combat food insecurity. The Food For Thought Pantry accepts donations of non-perishable items, which can be a sustainable alternative to tossing excess food. The pantry is open 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM on Wednesdays. The Pantry can be found in University Center A, Suite 4148, and is open to all currently enrolled FSU students, working to reduce student food insecurity. Students can also find their wish list and more information on their website.

Choose to Reuse Program

Green Lunch Container

Seminole Dining has recently implemented the “Choose To Reuse” program, where students can purchase an OZZI reusable container for $5.00. These containers are for takeout meals, and can be returned to Suwannee Room and Seminole Cafe, where upon return students can receive a clean container for their next meal with no additional cost as long as the previous container is returned. One container replaces 300 single-use plastics in its lifetime!

Cool Food Program

Cool Food Meal Logo

Keep an eye out for food options with the Cool Foods logo - out of hundreds of recipes served and assessed, these meals have the lowest carbon footprint based on ingredients and land use. This will allow students to take a more active role in campus sustainability while still enjoying high-quality meals.
